WOMBTOMBS Mourning Ceremonies

WOMBTOMBS Mourning Ceremonies

How do we grieve over the loss of things, of humans and non-humans, or of whole species even, alone or collectively?

How do we grieve over the loss of things, of humans and non-humans, or of whole species even, alone or collectively? During WOMBTOMBS, visitors can participate in mourning and swaddling rituals.

Hidden in the exhibition, artists Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot and Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti developed several shelters for hybrid rituals inspired by ancient shamanic grieving technologies. There, visitors are no longer just spectators, they become co-creators of the WOMBTOMBS temple.

In addition, if you want to participate in a joint mourning ceremony led by Ibellise Guardia Ferragutti sign up here: https://wombtombs-mourning-ceremonies.eventbrite.nl/. The ceremonies start on Sunday at 3pm and last for about an hour. There is room for fifteen participants per ceremony.

If you have an object you want to say goodbye to, please bring it with you.

The ceremonies take place at April 7th, April 14th, April 21th, April 28th, May 5th, May 12th, May 19th, May 26th.
