DIT is Weather or Not
Why tidy my exhibition space when the whole world is in a mess? by Sharon Houkema
Perhaps DIT comes across as a messy dormroom of an envorionmentally conscious student, but this exposition is the contribution of MU to DIT festival. The installation ‘Why tide my exhibition space when the whole world is a mess?’ by Sharon Houkema is the seventh exposition in a course of Weather or Not installations in the two shipping containers facing Intelligentia Ice. We thought DIT is an excellent opportunity to invite Björn Olaf Royd Cocu to develop a tasty ice cream flavour, especially for Weather or Not.
The DIT Weather or Not ice cream is a red grape sorbet, made of glacier water with an extra mineral flavour and a hint of authentic Eiswein from Austria. Björn explicitly chose these ingredients because of the delicate and riskfull process of producing the icewine, which is completely dependent of weather conditions and can become a fiasco quickly. If the grape survives the weather conditions in a dry year without fungal degration, it will be harvested in the winter. Roughly once in a decade the winemaker might get the manna he is waiting for.
Thus visit Bjorn in advance of the exposition of Sharon Houkema to enjoy a scoop of DIT is Weather or Not ice cream. Muddle up is allowed! Because “why tidy my exhibition space when the whole world is a mess’?
